Elephant Hill Day Hike
A demanding day hike through Aberdare forest and bamboo to an exposed moorland summit — often cold and misty.
Overview
Elephant Hill is the Aberdares' toughest day hike and the go-to training climb for anyone eyeing Mount Kenya. The trail rises relentlessly through montane forest, a dense bamboo zone and out onto open moorland.
The summit at 3,590 m is exposed and the weather turns fast — expect cold, wind and mist. Come prepared and it's one of the most rewarding day hikes in the country.

Reviews
Absolutely unforgettable. Our guide read the weather perfectly and the camps were far more comfortable than I expected. Strangers at the gate, a real crew by the summit.
Well organised from the M-Pesa booking to the trailhead transfer. Pacing was spot on for acclimatising. Would book again in a heartbeat.
Tough but so worth it. Bring more layers than you think — it gets cold up top. Guides were patient and encouraging the whole way.
